About LexSweep
A new word-square puzzle every day.
What we do
To build a daily word puzzle that rewards triangulation as much as vocabulary — fast to learn, hard to master, and small enough to play during your morning coffee.
We focus on daily word puzzles. Every page on lexsweep.com is built from a curated dictionary of 5-letter English words (the Wordle dictionary) plus a generated catalog of symmetric word squares, cited and linkable so readers can trace any number back to its source.
Who this is for
LexSweep is built for anyone who plays Wordle, Connections, or the NYT mini and wants a fresh daily that asks something different of you.
Why this exists
Public data on daily word puzzles is technically free, but practically locked behind file formats, acronyms, and paywalled dashboards. LexSweepexists to close that gap: take the raw federal and public-sector data, and turn it into pages a normal person can read in thirty seconds.
How we work
- Primary source only. We pull from a curated dictionary of 5-letter English words (the Wordle dictionary) plus a generated catalog of symmetric word squares and cite the exact dataset and version on every page.
- No invented numbers. If a figure is not in the underlying public data, it does not appear on lexsweep.com. We never generate synthetic statistics to fill gaps.
- Methodology, in plain English. Each daily puzzle is a symmetric 5×5 word square — row i reads the same as column i. Puzzles are generated by backtracking search against the Wordle dictionary, then quality-sorted so the rotation eases new players in with more familiar words first.
- Refreshed on a schedule. A new puzzle releases every day at 00:00 UTC. The archive includes every past puzzle since launch.
- Corrections welcome. Readers flag issues all the time. When the source fixes a record, LexSweep follows.
Known limitations
LexSweep stores no player data on a server. Streak, win-rate, and play count live in your browser's local storage only. We have no accounts, no email collection beyond an optional newsletter, and no third-party analytics other than Google Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement.
Why we built LexSweep
Wordle proved that a small, share-worthy daily puzzle can pull millions of recurring players. The format has spawned dozens of variants — number puzzles, geography puzzles, music puzzles — and the best of them all share two traits: a mechanic distinct enough to be its own thing, and a daily cadence that turns play into ritual. LexSweep sits in that lineage. The symmetric word square is a classic English puzzle form (you can find them in Victorian puzzle books) that fits unusually well with Wordle-style feedback: every green you find pays double because of the symmetry. We built it because we wanted to play it.
How LexSweep stays free
Display ads (Google AdSense) on the result screen, archive list, and content pages — never inside the gameplay area. No subscription, no paywall, no premium tier. We may add an optional ad-free newsletter in the future, but the core game will always be free in a browser.
About the games network
LexSweep is part of a small network of independent daily-puzzle games. The other games in the network include NumGrid (number-logic daily), HexMerge (hex-grid 2048-variant endless), and MapDash (geography-trivia daily). Each game is its own site with its own domain; they share infrastructure (favicon, AdSense, compliance) but not branding. The hub at PuzzleDaily collects every day’s puzzles in one place.
Independence
LexSweep is an independent publication. We are not funded, owned, or directed by any of the agencies, companies, or organizations that appear in our data. Hosting is paid for by advertising — see our Privacy Policy for details — and we do not take paid placements, sponsored rankings, or "remove-my-entry" fees.
History
LexSweep launched in 2026 as part of a small portfolio of independent public-data sites. It has been maintained and updated continuously since.
